DLR (Delivery Reporting)
Delivery Reporting (DLR) is a feature of SMS MT (Mobile Terminated) that reports back if an SMS message has been delivered, for every message sent. A successful DLR is as a result of a mobile acknowledging receipt of a message. Unfortunately, no message deliverer can be 100% certain that a ‘successfully delivered’ delivery receipt actually means that the message reached the user. If the message is not received, this delivery receipt explains why the message failed to arrive. See SMPP Delivery Receipts [smpp.org] .
