Rich SMS

Rich SMS, or SMS landing pages, involve the sending via SMS text message of a link to a webpage that contains rich media content in a mobile-friendly format. The Rich SMS can contain images, video, audio, colours, forms, calls-to-action (CTAs) and other formatting that make the message more interactive, engaging and compelling than a simple text message. The SMS text message containing the link to the webpage will also contain some message text that encourages the recipient to click on the link. The message may also contain opt-out information as appropriate. Senders of Rich SMS can often tracking the level of engagement with such messages (e.g. opening or viewing the message, CTA usage, redemption), enabling them to determine ROI of mobile marketing campaigns. Rich Communication Services (RCS) is seen as a future replacement of Rich SMS.
