SMS Aggregator

An SMS aggregator builds and maintains direct connections with mobile network operators (MNOs) and also indirect MNO connections via other SMS aggregators for the delivery of A2P SMS. The SMS aggregator operates an SMS gateway that manages the connections to MNOs and other SMS aggregators, and customers who wish to send (and receive) SMS. Any organisation wishing to send content to mobile subscribers using A2P SMS can connect with one aggregator and potentially reach hundreds of MNOs globally via this one connection. SMS aggregators provide services such as bulk SMS by providing SMS APIs for use by their customers. On the upstream side of the SMS aggregator, the SMPP SMS API is typically used to connect with MNO SMSCs and other SMS aggregators.
