HLR (Home Location Register)
The Home Location Register (HLR) is the main database of permanent subscriber information for a mobile network. The HLR is an integral component of CDMA (code division multiple access), TDMA (time division multiple access), and GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) networks. In order for communication to take place with the mobile device of a subscriber, the location of the device must be known in order to route those communications to the part of the mobile network serving their mobile device.
