Signalling Connection Control Part (SCCP) is a portion of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recommendation Q.711, which is the routing protocol for Signalling System 7 (SS7). SCCP provides reliable delivery of packets between end stations in a telephony network, making it possible to address a message to a specific type of device, such as a conventional telephone set, cell phone set, VoIP end station, fax machine, or computer. SCCP maintains the correct sequencing of packets, even during times of high network traffic or partial network failure.
